Four years after its arrival on the market, the second generation 1 Series is offered a mid-life refresh. The program includes front and rear journals, additional equipment and new engines.

2011: after a first generation that showcases the "driving pleasure" so dear to the brand but criticized for its lower occupancy and relative comfort, BMW introduced the second generation of its compact, the 1 Series, with the promise of make it more livable in everyday life. If the mission is successful in that direction, the style of the car going a little worse. So today, for its mid-life facelift, BMW reviewing deeply enough the style of its 1 Series.

A restyling more important than what we usually offers the brand. Should we see a confession? I let you judge. In any case, the front face is transfigured headlights, much more delicate and elegant, show a little spirit of the Active Tourer, and now offer a series of daytime running lights LED. Optical only calls this technology is an arrival. The design of the air vents reminiscent meanwhile the 3 Series, while beans grille pinched a little. So it is with a front more in line with the rest of the range that the 1 Series will live the second part of his existence.

The rear section also incorporates mind, with a change that is obvious: the lights are now in two parts, with an overflow on the tailgate, thus echoing the famous drawing by L we find everywhere in the Bavarian manufacturer. Here too, an LED light signature appeared. Only small flat for my taste: identification of the model that seems a little hard to put on the trunk. But hey, nothing prevents you to ask withdraw when ordering. Profile remains him unchanged.

Inside, it's much more subtle. Just noticed is it the car radio control panels and air conditioning -very very slightly modified. Touches of black lacquer (yuck) are appearing all around. It's more in terms of equipment we noted some new: for example, auto aircon and iDrive "basic" (read with a small 6.5-inch screen and without navigation) are now offered as standard, while Call intelligent emergency, the tire pressure sensor wipers and lights cars doing the same. The radius of the options is enriched with new proposals, such as the adaptive controller or the latest generation Park Assist system.
